This is a good design for any one who enjoys having a glass of wine...or two...to yourself. The design I chose is the wine stopper. However, this is not just a cork that you stick in to stop the wine this is a cork that was made with other features to give the ultimate experience. The cork comes with a decoration on top so that you can push the cork in as far as you want and will still be able to pull it out. It also comes with a ring that fits into the narrow opening of the bottle with a chain attached to the cork so that the whole piece will stay with the bottle.
This to me is a good design because it takes it's purpose of vanity mirror to a whole new level. This ultimate mirror is double-sided. One one side, it has the normal view of a mirror where you see the reflection just as is while the other side is magnified so you can really get an up-close and personal. Also, for each side of this double vanity mirror there is a ring on the outline of each mirror where a light will turn on when you press the button on the bottom of the stand. This design for a mirror is a simple one, but really efficient in making use out of the entire mirror stand.

This is a DIY design that is probably one of my favorite designs of my entire apartment. It is so practical and useful, that I honestly don't know how other people don't have this at their place. My roommate took a white board, that has a cork outline, and jazzed it up with colored tape to divide the board into different sections. She made the top portion just a general section to write whatever we want on there, and the bottom section divided into three parts (the two outside boxes are for what we individually want, and the middle box is what we both need for the apartment and can split the cost on). She took a plain white board and took it to a whole new level of essential.
Here is a design made for those who love jewelry! Any jewelry owners know that as nice as the necklace looks on you, it's more frustrating on what to do with it when it's off you. It's always hard storing necklaces without getting them all tangled on each other, which is why I picked this necklace stand as my piece of what I think good design is. The necklace rack is a very simple design with only three parts: the base, the pole that keeps the rack elevated, and the actual elevator piece (the bar). This was an item I got off of Etsy, and is easy to assemble as well as disassemble. The rack allows for a easy glide of putting your necklaces on the stand without any mess and is perfect for organizing.

Here is a design that I admire in a purely artistic form. It is a wall piece that is purely for decoration, but I find to be a unique and interesting piece. It is an image done by David Hockney where he has an image of a person sitting and looking into a camera. Just that in itself doesn't sound interesting at all, but how he displays the piece is what makes it work. He doesn't just take the picture of the person as a whole, he takes pictures of different parts of the person (some even overlapping areas) and then puts all the images together. The piece itself comes out to be an abstract form of realistic images. It is a concept that is unique to David Hockney and is his signature. The fragmented imagery makes you really look through the entire image and appreciate all the details rather than if he had taken one solid image of the person.
This piece here is a classic design that has been around for centuries. This is one that cannot be improved on any more because...how can you? This is a tea pot. A tea pot is made to just boil some water, but the genius thing about it is the spout where it comes out of. That spout is the whole reason for why I think this is a great design The spout comes with a lid that has a tiny hole in the center of it. The purpose of this hole is to inform you when the water is boiling because there will enough steam being produced that when it trickles out of the hole hard enough then it creates this high pitched noise that is hard to miss. Then when you want to pour yourself a cup of hot water for you tea, all you do is lift the lid that's covering the spout and pour. It's a very simple and functioning design.

I have always loved using nail polish, but doing the nails yourself has always been an annoying process. The nail polish always takes a very long time in order for it to dry, and just when you think you've waited long enough to resume back to other activities you see a smudge on a few fingers. It feels like all that time you spent on it was just wasted. Then if you miraculously do happen to avoid getting your nails smudged, the polish starts to chip off within a few days to a week at the most. The image I have posted is nail polish, but revolutionized; gel nail polish. The beautiful thing about gel nail polish is that it never chips! The trick is the UV light where after each coat of polish you add you put them under UV light for 30 seconds then the job is done. It's a much faster process than regular nail polish, you can resume to other things immediately after, and you don't have to worry about it needing a touch-up for up to two weeks. Once you go to gel nail polish you really can't go back to the original thing.
